STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Ian Hernandez

By Leydi Mascarano

This week we shine the Titan spotlight on Ian Hernandez. Ian Hernandez is a sophomore at Memorial High School. MHS teacher Jacob Hoover nominated him for the recognition. “Ian works very diligently in class and has excellent critical thinking skills. He always asks for help when needed, and is very supportive of his peers in class,” said Hoover.  “He has maintained a near straight “A” average in his classes. Mr. Hoover teaches Ian ESL and he mentions how Ian is an amazing and supportive student to him and his classmates. In addition to demonstrating brilliance in the  classroom, Hernandez also proved to be a standout and a great team member of the soccer team.

Being named Student of the Month surprised him.  “I’m nervous because it was unexpected, but I'm happy about it. '' After high school, Ian wants to attend college.  He wants to study economics, investments, and eventually form his own company. In school, Hernandez is a member of the Titan soccer team.

When asked if he has a quote he lives by, “Never stick to one skill, always have the motivation to learn more,” said Ian. When asked why this was such an important quote to him he said “In my opinion, the more you know the more opportunities you have in life.”
